The Heart Behind M.A.K.E.
Why a M.A.K.E. is Nonprofit
For me, karate has never just been about belts, tournaments, or techniques. It’s been about growth, courage, and the sense of belonging that comes when you know you’re part of something bigger. When I opened the Music Academy of Karate and Empowerment, I didn’t want it to be just another business. I wanted it to be a place where people of all ages could walk in, feel seen, and know they had the chance to become stronger inside and out—no matter their circumstances.
Making M.A.K.E. a nonprofit was my way of keeping that promise. I know what it’s like to need opportunity and support, and I believe no child—or adult—should miss out on the chance to discover their confidence, discipline, and resilience because of money. By choosing nonprofit, I can put the focus exactly where it belongs: on people, on growth, and on building a community that lifts each other up.
Every time I see a shy child stand taller, a teenager push through self-doubt, or an adult rediscover their strength, I’m reminded why this matters so much. M.A.K.E. isn’t here to earn a profit—it’s here to change lives.
